Chair Yoga is a unique yoga style that adapts poses and positions through the creative use of a chair whether sitting or standing. Chair Yoga is a gentle approach to yoga that emphasizes the importance of breathing, mindfulness, posture, flexibility, focus, stretching and balance in our daily lives. These simple, and enjoyable exercises increase circulation to all parts of the body, improve overall flexibility, and help restore a natural vitality to the body and mind. All the poses and exercises are practiced while sitting in a chair or using the chair for balance while enjoying all of the benefits of a regular yoga practice. Yoga encourages a deepening awareness of the mind-body connection suitable for all ages and abilities. This class is designed for students who need to start yoga and exercise gradually. The postures will be presented in a slow, clear and manageable way in order to allow students to grasp the concepts not only with the mind but with the body as well. Chair Yoga is ideal for those who do not want to, or are unable to, get down to the floor on a mat. Using a chair for support allows you to comfortably and confidently learn the yoga poses. The postures will also be performed safely with particular attention directed to the specific needs or current limitations of the individual.
