Nancy and Carlos both have PhDs in psychology from the University of Edinburgh. For over thirty years, they have been involved in the field of scientific parapsychology. They have worked at the Rhine Research Center, the Parapsychology Foundation, and the Division of Perceptual Studies at the University of Virginia. Their research has focused on questionnaire-based studies of reports of supposed psychic experiences, relating them to various states/traits such as dissociation, depersonalization, absorption, and satisfaction with life. They have also examined the relationship of reporting psychic experiences with reporting other experiences such as lucid dreams, disturbing dreams, vivid dreams, and mystical experiences. They have published several papers together and separately. More information can be found at their website.
